Weekend well-spent at Union, Grand Indonesia
Last week, I went to Ideafest 2016. Me and my friend, Puput, attended ideafest for two days. On the second day, it was just conference. They promised that there will be Jokowi, but he didn't show up. Therefore, Anies Baswedan who should be speaking at night, showed up as the first speaker. I didn't knew about him very well, but he was an inspiring speaker actually. And I didn't make it to watch the whole conference because I had a wedding invitation project to finish. After I watched three speakers, I decided to go home. But I didn't go home. Instead, I called my friend, Endhita and she was still at Grand Indonesia, and then I decided to join her.
I was starving, and we decided to eat at Union. We've been craving this since months ago. It was around 3 p.m. I thought it would be easy to get a seat because lunch time is passed. Apparently, we were on waiting list. I suggest you to make reservation if you want to eat here.
I've been living in Jakarta more than a year, but I didn't get a chance to try this place. I heard from some of my friends that it's super delicious, especially the famous Red Velvet Cake. So, that's why we chose this place. Union has three different locations--Plaza Senayan, Pondok Indah Mall, and Grand Indonesia. And we chose Union Deli at Grand Indonesia.
There are many menu to choose, but I decided to order Union Burger - Aged Cheddar, with fries and my friend ordered Crispy Skin Salmon with mashed potatoes, orange and ginger soy. For the drink I ordered something that isn't on menu. It was called Basil something-i-don't-know, I was too tired to understand it, and my friend ordered Tropic Berry smoothies.
I love the Burger. It was a huge one. I remembered that it made me feel so stuffed until next morning. And for the drink, it was amazing too. There was fresh yet sour feeling when drink this. Also, there was a little bit liquor--my friend said it was Vodka. The waitress explained well to me about this drink but I just couldn't hear it. I was so tired working on my project.
For the dessert, I ordered Union's signature Red Velvet Cake and my friend ordered Nutella doughnuts. I absolutely love the Red Velvet Cake. It was the best Red Velvet Cake I've ever tasted.
Is it recommended?
Yes, it is. I highly recommend you to eat the Red Velvet cake. I would come here again and order that cake. But, for other foods? I don't think so. I prefer to eat at Benedict. But overall, it's worth it.
